House clearance with care — from start to finish
An estate is more than furniture and possessions. It's a home that tells a story — and clearing it requires both sensitivity and practical experience. Many family members live far away, are short on time or simply can't face handling everything alone. Meanwhile the clock is ticking: the lease needs cancelling, the property needs selling and probate needs completing.
With Ungdomskraft you get a partner who takes responsibility for the entire chain. We start by going through the property — either with you on site or via photos if you live far away. Personal valuables, documents, photographs and jewellery are carefully set aside. Furnishings in good condition are sorted for donation to charity organisations. The rest is handled responsibly at approved recycling stations.
When we're done, the property is left empty, clean and ready for whatever comes next — whether that's a viewing, renovation or handing the keys back to the landlord.
Before we begin — how to prepare
Think about whether there are items you or other family members want to keep — jewellery, photo albums, letters, artwork or specific furniture. Set aside what you can, or mark it clearly so we know. You don't need to touch the rest.
Gather keys to all spaces that belong to the property — attic, basement, storage and garage. If you can't be present, you can leave keys with a neighbour, estate agent or building manager. Let us know about any deadlines, such as a lease ending or a planned viewing, so we can prioritise accordingly.
What makes house clearance different from standard removal?
Standard junk removal is about hauling away items you've already decided to get rid of. House clearance is a completely different process:
- Sorting valuables – we go through drawers, wardrobes and shelves to find and set aside anything of financial or sentimental value — photos, letters, jewellery, cash and documents
- Coordinating with family – we often work with family members who live in a different city or even abroad. You can manage the entire process by phone or photos without being on site
- Working to your timeline – estates often come with hard deadlines — an expiring lease, probate or a planned property viewing. We adapt to your schedule, not the other way around
- Complete solution – we don't just clear the main rooms — attic, basement, storage and garage are all included in a single booking
How we carry out a house clearance
- 1. Contact and planning – You describe the property — size, number of rooms, any extra spaces. We give you a fixed price. Have photos? Send them along — it helps us plan the right crew and vehicle.
- 2. Valuables review – Before we start clearing, we (or you) go through the property. Personal items, documents and valuables are set aside in labelled boxes. You decide what happens to them.
- 3. Room-by-room clearance – Our workers move systematically through the home. Furniture is disassembled, appliances disconnected and everything is carried out and loaded. Floors and stairwells are protected.
- 4. Donation and recycling – Clothes, furniture and kitchenware in good condition are donated to charity. Electronics go to e-waste. The rest is sorted at an approved recycling station. The property is left empty and clean.
We support you — even from a distance
It's common for family members to live in a completely different city — sometimes even abroad. We're experienced in handling estate clearances remotely. You book online, send photos of the property and leave keys with a contact person. During the clearance we send updates and photos so you can follow the progress.
If we find items that look personal or valuable — photo albums, letters, jewellery, cash — we contact you directly before moving on. Nothing is discarded without your confirmation.
When we're done, we send a summary of what was donated, recycled and disposed of. You never have to worry about something important going missing.
Common situations for house clearance
- Lease expiring – the landlord requires the apartment to be emptied within a set timeframe. We adapt to your deadline, often at just a few days' notice.
- Property for sale – the estate agent needs an empty property for photography and viewings. We clear it and leave it ready for market.
- House with multiple spaces – the property has an attic, basement, garage and garden shed that all need clearing. We handle everything in a single job.
- Family members in different locations – everyone wants the chance to choose keepsakes. We can carry out the clearance in stages or set items aside for collection.
