Ungdomskraft vs Tiptapp - which service should you choose?
Need help with junk removal, transport or moving? You've probably come across two names: Ungdomskraft and Tiptapp. Both services help you get rid of furniture, move heavy items or transport things you've bought on Blocket - but they work in completely different ways.
Ungdomskraft is a service company that sends its own employed workers with a company van. You book, we come, we do the job. Tiptapp, on the other hand, is a marketplace where private individuals and small businesses accept jobs via an app - a gig platform.
This difference - employed workers versus gig workers - affects everything: safety, insurance, customer service, RUT tax deduction and who takes responsibility when something goes wrong. In this guide, we go through it area by area so you can make an informed choice.
We're upfront about the fact that we obviously have an interest in this comparison - we are Ungdomskraft. But we've done our homework: all facts about Tiptapp are based on their own website, app terms and published journalism from Hem & Hyra, SVT, Dagens industri and Dagens Nyheter. You can draw your own conclusions.
How Ungdomskraft works
Ungdomskraft is a Swedish service company offering junk removal, moving, transport, furniture assembly and carrying help in Stockholm and Gothenburg. When you book via boka.ungdomskraft.com you get a fixed price instantly - no surprises afterwards.
At the booked time, a team of young, employed workers arrives with a company van. You don't need to rent a vehicle, organise help or drive to the recycling centre yourself. The team handles everything from carrying down stairs to loading, transport and proper disposal at the recycling centre.
Here are the key parts of Ungdomskraft's model:
- Employed workers - Everyone who works for us is employed with fair conditions, not gig workers. We run background checks on all employees.
- Company van always included - No guessing what vehicle shows up. We always arrive with a fully equipped van.
- Insured through Trygg Hansa - Full liability insurance covering damages throughout the entire job. Not a third-party solution - directly through one of Sweden's largest insurance companies.
- RUT tax deduction (50%) - We handle the RUT deduction automatically on the invoice. You only pay half the labour cost.
- Dedicated contact person - You get a personal contact for your job. No anonymous forms - you can call and chat.
- Pay by invoice - We offer invoice payment, not just Swish or card payment in an app.
- Swedish and English-speaking staff - Our workers speak both Swedish and English, so communication always works.
Ungdomskraft's social mission is to help young people into the workforce. When you book with us, you're contributing to young people getting their first real employment with proper working conditions - not a gig job without security.
We have a 4.7 rating on Trustpilot based on over 2,500 reviews, and our customers particularly highlight that our teams are fast, professional and pleasant to deal with.

How Tiptapp works
Tiptapp is an app-based marketplace where you post a job - for example "pick up a sofa from my apartment" - and private individuals or small businesses can accept it. Tiptapp doesn't carry out any jobs themselves; they're a matchmaking service that connects customers and workers.
When someone accepts your job, you pay through the app. Tiptapp takes a 25% commission of the price. The rest goes to the person doing the work. This means if you pay SEK 1,000, the worker gets SEK 750 and Tiptapp keeps SEK 250.
The model has advantages: it's flexible, it can be quick to find someone to take the job, and for very small tasks (like giving away a free piece of furniture) it can be a simple alternative.
But the model also has well-known problems you should be aware of:
- No employees - The workers are not employed by Tiptapp. They are private individuals or sole traders who take jobs via the app. This means Tiptapp has no direct control over who shows up at your door.
- No background checks - An investigative report by the magazine Hem & Hyra revealed that workers with stolen identities, without valid driving licences, and in some cases without work permits could operate on the platform. The investigation also showed that people from poor countries worked up to 18 hours a day for extremely low pay.
- No guaranteed vehicle - You don't know what type of vehicle will show up. It could be a regular car, a trailer or a van - you have no guarantee.
- Inconsistent quality - Since anyone can accept a job, there's no guarantee of training, experience or professional conduct.
- Demands for extra payment on arrival - A well-known problem is that Tiptapp workers accept your price in the app, but once on site demand more money for "extra work". If you say no, you risk the worker simply leaving - and you're left standing there with your furniture still in place.
- Workers who abandon the job - It happens that a Tiptapp worker shows up, looks at the job and decides to leave because it wasn't what they expected. You have no guarantee the job will actually get done.
- Language barrier - Tiptapp's workers rarely speak Swedish or English. Communication often becomes a major problem, especially when you need to give instructions about what should go, what needs to be handled carefully, or where things should be taken.
- Drivers without licences, convicted and in debt - An investigation by Hem & Hyra, covered by Dagens industri, examined 85 Tiptapp drivers. Nearly half lacked a Swedish driving licence. Almost a quarter had been investigated or convicted of assault, drug offences or accounting fraud. Nearly as many had debts totalling SEK 8 million. Drivers with stolen identities could operate freely on the platform. Tiptapp's CEO admits the company does not carry out any background checks on its workers. The Swedish Transport Agency summoned Tiptapp to a meeting and the matter was raised in parliament.
- Criticism from trade unions - Swedish trade unions have repeatedly criticised Tiptapp's gig model for undermining workers' rights. Drivers are not covered by Swedish employment law (LAS, MBL) or any form of union representation.
- Legal problems - Tiptapp has been banned by the City of Stockholm (later overturned), investigated by police and the Transport Agency, and debated in parliament. Concerns about illegal dumping of waste in nature have been reported repeatedly.
In other words, Tiptapp is an app that can work for simple free pickups - but where you as a customer take a significantly greater risk compared to hiring an established company. You don't know who's coming, you don't know if they have a driving licence, and you have no guarantee the job will be completed.

Employed staff vs gig economy - how big is the difference?
The biggest difference between Ungdomskraft and Tiptapp isn't about price - it's about who comes into your home.
At Ungdomskraft, all workers are employed with employment contracts. This means:
- Background checks - We check every employee's background before they start working with us.
- Training - New employees receive training in lifting, carrying, customer service and vehicle handling.
- Workers' rights - Our employees have holiday pay, sick leave and reasonable working hours. They're protected by Swedish employment law.
- Accountability - If someone on our team makes a mistake, Ungdomskraft as a company takes full responsibility. You don't need to chase a private individual.
- Social mission - We help young people into the job market. Many of our employees get their first real job with us.
With Tiptapp, you don't know who accepts your job. The worker could be a private individual with a regular car, a sole trader, or in the worst case someone operating on the platform without proper documentation - something that Hem & Hyra's investigation documented.
Trade unions have criticised the gig model for driving down prices at the expense of workers' conditions. Since Tiptapp's workers aren't employed, they have none of the rights that come with employment: no sick pay, no holiday, no employment protection.
For you as a customer, the employment model mainly means two things: you know that trained, vetted people are coming to your home, and you know that the company takes responsibility if something goes wrong.

Insurance and liability - who takes responsibility if something goes wrong?
Letting someone into your home to carry furniture, appliances or other heavy items always involves risk. What happens if the floor gets scratched? If a vase gets knocked over? If a washing machine is dropped on the stairs? Here, the services differ significantly.
Ungdomskraft: Trygg Hansa insurance + company liability
Ungdomskraft is insured through Trygg Hansa, one of Sweden's largest and most established insurance companies. The insurance covers damages that occur during the job - from start to finish.
If something goes wrong, you contact your dedicated contact person at Ungdomskraft. We handle the matter directly - you don't need to fill in forms at a third-party company or argue with a private individual. Ungdomskraft as a company takes full responsibility for the job.
Tiptapp: Omocom insurance with limitations
Tiptapp offers insurance through Omocom, an insurance company specialising in the sharing economy. However, the insurance has several important limitations:
- Only during transport - The insurance applies during transport, with a maximum of 24 hours. Damages before or after transport are not covered.
- Customer must pack themselves - You as the customer are responsible for items being properly packed and protected. If damage is due to inadequate packaging, compensation may not be paid.
- Claims via third party - Any damage claims are handled by Omocom, not by Tiptapp. So you're not dealing with Tiptapp when it comes to compensation.
- Dispute between private individuals - Since the worker is often a private individual, any dispute can end up between you and the worker personally - without Tiptapp playing any role.
The difference in brief: with Ungdomskraft, you're insured through Trygg Hansa and the company takes responsibility. With Tiptapp, you depend on a third-party insurance with limitations, and disputes can end up between you and a private individual.
Customer service and support
When you book a service, you want to know you can reach someone if you have questions, need to make changes or if something goes wrong. Here too, there's a major difference.
Ungdomskraft: dedicated contact person
Every customer who books through Ungdomskraft gets a dedicated contact person for their job. You can contact them via phone and chat - you're not stuck in an email queue. If something needs changing, if you have questions about timing or if a problem arises, you have a named person to turn to.
The company also takes operational responsibility for the entire job. If the team is delayed, if something breaks or if you're not satisfied, we handle it directly. You don't need to have a dispute with a private individual.
Tiptapp: email support
Tiptapp offers customer service via email (support@tiptapp.com). There is no phone support to call. For urgent situations - for example if the worker doesn't show up, the vehicle is too small, or your belongings have been damaged - it can be frustrating to be limited to email.
Since Tiptapp is a marketplace and doesn't carry out the job themselves, there's also a limit to what they can do if you're unhappy with the worker's performance. Disputes about quality or damage end up in practice between you and the private individual or company that took the job.
Summary: Ungdomskraft gives you a personal contact with phone and chat. Tiptapp gives you an email address. When you need help quickly, that makes a big difference.
RUT tax deduction and payment
The RUT deduction is a Swedish tax subsidy that gives individuals 50% back on the labour cost for household services like moving, junk removal and carrying help. It's one of the biggest financial advantages you can get - but it requires that the company you hire can offer it.
Ungdomskraft: RUT deduction always available
Ungdomskraft is a registered company with an F-tax certificate that always offers the RUT deduction. The deduction is handled automatically on the invoice - you see exactly what you pay after RUT. You don't need to contact the Swedish Tax Agency yourself; we claim back the amount on your behalf.
In practice, this means a job with a labour cost of SEK 3,000 only costs you SEK 1,500 after RUT. The maximum deduction is SEK 75,000 per person per year.
Additionally, Ungdomskraft offers invoice payment. You don't need to pay via an app or Swish - you get a proper invoice you can pay within the payment terms. This is particularly practical for larger jobs and if you want full control over your accounting.
Tiptapp: no RUT deduction
The RUT deduction requires the worker to be a registered company with an F-tax certificate. Tiptapp's workers are private individuals - and private individuals cannot offer the RUT deduction. This means the RUT deduction is never available via Tiptapp.
So you always pay full price when using Tiptapp. Even if the base price appears lower at first glance, it's in practice more expensive than Ungdomskraft for the same job, since you don't get 50% back.
Payment on Tiptapp is done via the app, usually by card or Swish. Invoice payment is not offered.
Calculation example
Let's say you need help removing furniture - a job with a labour cost of SEK 4,000:
- Ungdomskraft with RUT: SEK 4,000 x 50% = SEK 2,000 to pay (vehicle and insurance included)
- Tiptapp without RUT: SEK 3,500 (example price) + Tiptapp's commission is already included = SEK 3,500 to pay (no guaranteed vehicle, limited insurance)
With the RUT deduction, Ungdomskraft often becomes the cheaper option - and you get employed workers, a company van and full insurance on top. Use our RUT calculator to work out your exact savings.
Environmental responsibility - what happens to your things?
When you're getting rid of furniture and other items, you want to know they end up in the right place. Here too, there's an important difference.
Ungdomskraft: sorting and donation
Ungdomskraft takes environmental responsibility seriously. Items in good condition are donated to Myrorna (the Salvation Army's second-hand chain) so they get a new life instead of becoming waste. The rest is sorted and taken to a recycling centre according to municipal guidelines.
You can feel confident that your belongings are handled responsibly - whether they're recycled, donated or properly disposed of.
Tiptapp: unknown handling
Since Tiptapp's workers are private individuals, you have no guarantee of how your items are handled after pickup. Tiptapp states that workers should take items to a recycling centre, but there are reports of illegal dumping in nature - something that has been highlighted by media and the City of Stockholm.
If you want to know that your items are handled in an environmentally friendly and legal way, it's harder to guarantee via Tiptapp.

When is Tiptapp the better option?
We want to be honest - there are situations where Tiptapp can be a reasonable alternative:
- Giving away free items - If you just want to get rid of something that's free to collect (like a working sofa on the pavement), Tiptapp can work well. You don't need to pay anyone, and someone gets free furniture.
- Very small jobs - For a single, small item where you don't care about vehicle, insurance or RUT, it can be simple to post on Tiptapp.
For anything involving larger quantities, heavy items, valuable belongings or where you want security, insurance and the RUT deduction, Ungdomskraft is the significantly better choice. This applies especially to furniture removal, house clearances, estate clearance, moving, appliance transport, IKEA delivery and anything where you need a van and professional staff.
Why choose Ungdomskraft?
Let's summarise why thousands of customers in Stockholm and Gothenburg choose Ungdomskraft over Tiptapp and other alternatives:
