Prepare for fridge transport

Defrost the fridge and freezer at least 24 hours before transport — this prevents water leakage and protects the compressor. Empty all food, shelves and drawers (drawers can usually stay but glass shelves should be removed and packed separately). Turn off the power and unplug. Wipe up any meltwater. Tape the door shut so it doesn't open during transport. Roll up the cable and tape it in place. Make sure there is clear passage through doors, corridors and stairwells — measure the doorway width if the fridge is extra wide. Have entry codes and keys ready for both addresses.

Picking up a fridge from Blocket and Facebook Marketplace

Found a fridge on Blocket or a freezer on Facebook Marketplace? We collect from the seller, disconnect if needed, carry out, load upright in the van and drive it to your home. There we carry in and place it in the kitchen. No need to rent a car, try to lay a fridge in the back seat or ask the seller for help. We handle everything — quickly, professionally and with the fridge upright the entire way.

Why the fridge must always be transported upright

A fridge or freezer must always be transported upright. The reason is the compressor and refrigerant. When the fridge lies on its side, oil from the compressor can leak into the cooling system, potentially causing expensive damage. The refrigerant can also end up in the wrong part of the system, meaning the fridge won't cool properly after transport. We always transport fridges and freezers upright in the van, secured with tie-downs against the wall so they cannot tilt or fall. After delivery we recommend letting the fridge stand for at least 4 hours before turning it on — this gives the oil time to settle back into the compressor.

Taking the fridge with you when moving? We disconnect, carry out of the old kitchen, transport upright and deliver to your new home. Combine with our moving help if you have more items. Bought a new fridge from Elgiganten, Power, MediaMarkt or IKEA but the delivery doesn't suit you? We collect from the store and deliver to your home. We carry in and place it — you just need to plug it in. Want us to take the old fridge to recycling? Describe it when booking and we'll handle it in the same trip.

Fridge and freezer transport does not qualify for the Swedish RUT tax deduction, but several of our other services do – including moving help, carrying help and furniture assembly with a 50% deduction on the labour cost. Feel free to combine services in a single booking.
